Teresa Mason
Has been a Houston resident and business owner for 18 years. She has operated Dance Arts Ballroom for 11 years, and considers her beautiful dance facility a home to professionals who are committed to the art of Partner Dancing. She is currently Artistic Director and holds dance events with the finest professionals in the area, teaches couples of all ages, and produces a theatrical show called The Magic of Ballroom, featuring some of the finest Partner Dancers in the World, currently in production for February 26-28, at the Texas Repertory Theatre.
Teresa is a former United States Champion Competitor whose titles include, United States Rising Star Standard, Fred Astaire National Champion in both Latin and Standard, and winner of the prestigious "Breakers" competition in Palm Beach Florida.
Her teaching is accredited at the highest level by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. She began lessons in ballet, jazz, and tap at the age of three, and added flamenco, acting and voice in her teens. She became a full time instructor at the age of 18 and completed the Fred Astaire teaching program through Bronze, Silver and Gold by the age of 23. She won her first National Title at the age of 25, and continued to teach, compete and perform in the United States, Europe and Canada until opening her studio in 1998.
Teresa started her national line of instructional DVD's in 1984, They are considered the "most popular" by Barnes and Noble, amazon.com and ProDance Video, and were featured on the website of "Dancing With the Stars."
Teresa is most proud of kids who have come to her program as teens, back as Brides and Grooms and then back for Cruise and other Special Events. They have made Dancing part of the way they celebrate the Magical Milestones of Life. Competitive Dance is Beautiful, and Performing in Shows is an Amazing Experience, but Social Dancing is where the Romance is, it's what all those songs were written about, and what elevates a great evening to a Magical Night to Remember. Kyle Turley- is a 5 Time World Champion in Roller Dance Skating, and is currently training to represent the United States at the World Championships in Freiburg Germany in November 2009. Kyle realized his passion for dance went beyond the realms of roller dancing, and completed instructor training in January 2009. While his figure skating career led him to become the most decorated and successful figure skater in United States history earning over 50 National Championship Titles and Placements as well as 16 World Championship Titles and placements in Junior and Senior World Class events, Kyle looks forward to applying his talents to performing and competing in ballroom dancing. Kyle is also studying Business at Lonestar College and is very close to earning his degree. Kyle and Heather will be performing in the Magic of Ballroom production February 26-28, 2010.
Heather Menard- Heather is a World class athlete and studied Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Flamenco Dance, both to further her Goals as a World Champion Skating competitor and her career as a Professional Dancer . Heather also received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience and Biopsychology from the University of Michigan in 2007.Her latest accomplishments, as a World Class skating competitor include, winning the U.S. National Championships in the Senior World Class division with her partner Kyle Turley in 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009, as well as earning a silver medal at the World Roller Figure Skating Championships, in Freiburg Germany, 2009. While she has earned over 30 National Championship Titles and placements, Heather is very excited to contribute her passions to ballroom dancing, as a certified instructor and future competitor.
